It appears much of society likes to be scared at least under certain controlled conditions. Some people like skydiving, roller coasters, and others are Chicago Cubs fans. But let me mention something to you truly terrifying. Spend time pondering this possibility: You might never become the man you were intended to become. God has a plan for each and every father. That plan for each father is to attend the garden that God has given him.
Think about the horror of looking back on your life and realizing it was all about you. Whatever you wanted, whenever you wanted it. Gaming, drugs, alcohol or buying the latest gadget. That’s it. Your days just roll by. You committed to no one butyourself. You chose to insulate yourself from anything that would call you out to be a man. None of the things you sought forced you to go beyond yourself. Whenever you were called to sacrifice, there wasn’t any way that you were going to step up to the plate. You were loyal to no one except yourself.
As you grew older no one seemed to care about you. Because that’s where living to fulfill your own desires eventually leads. Ultimately no one missed you when you graduated from time to eternity. Let’s make a commitment to attend to the garden that God has given us and make a difference in the kingdom of God.
